Justin Tailor,[1] known profesionally as Hoost, is a British producer based in London. Hoost draws influences from a variety of genres, including R&B, house, and hip hop.[2]
Hoost produced Rina Sawayama's debut single "Sleeping in Waking", released in 2013. Since then, he and Sawayama had collaborated regularly, with Hoost producing her subsequent singles "Tunnel Vision" (2015), "Where U Are" (2016), and "Cyber Stockholm Syndrome" (2017), among others.
Working with Rina
Rina Sawayama met Hoost in 2013 while looking for a producer for her debut single, "Sleeping in Waking". Released in February 2013, the electro-R&B song departs from the folk arrangement of the original demo. According to Hoost, Sawayama is the first artist he professionally worked with.
A bonus track produced by Hoost is featured on the Japanese edition of Sawayama's debut studio album, Sawayama, released in April 2020. Following the release of the album, Hoost posted on his Instagram account.
We'd always talk about the dream debut album and how it would sound and what it would be about. Well Rina has made the best pop album of the year. I'm so proud of her and how far she's come and how dedicated and focused and unwaivering to her artistic integrity she's been this whole journey so far. Can't wait to see what the future holds for you Rina and what this album does for you.[3]
