rina

A pixel (plural pixels) is the name that receives a fan of Rina Sawayama. Sawayama started calling her fans "pixels" circa 3 November 2017, during the Rina era, where her main aesthetic and creative direction was related to cyber culture and themes of identity in the online world.

During an interview with Nylon magazine in 2020, Sawayama stated that she sees her fans as "baby versions of my friends."[1]

Alone Together wristband

In September 2018, Sawayama embarked to the Ordinary Superstar Tour in association with her debut EP, Rina (2017). She introduced the Alone Together wristband for people attending shows alone, so they can meet up with other pixels with the wristband. "I know it can be intimidating to go to shows alone so I made wristbands for u!", she tweeted. "If you're coming alone, collect your free wristbands at the venue (or at the queue) and if you see any fellow Pixels wearing them say hi. Let's be Alone Together!".[2]
